Would you share a bath with your neighbour? Even for the most community minded amongst us this probably feels like a step too far, but until as late as the 1960s it was routine to visit the public bath house for your weekly wash.

As London emerges from the events of the last year, striving to be a city with “economic opportunity, thriving neighbourhoods and improved wellbeing for all” [Sadiq Khan, ‘Opportunity London’], now is the time to challenge the status quo and consider seemly radial approaches to how we live together.

This panel discussion, hosted by Archio, will consider how homes of the future might benefit from sharing and collaboration to create more sustainable neighbourhoods, healthier homes and even more efficient supply chains.

We will ask what aspects of our domestic lives we’re prepared to share, and what the benefits could be of pooling our resources?

John Nordon, Creative Director at developer Igloo, and Cany Ash, Founding Partner of architects Ash Sakula, will explore new approaches to designing homes, and ask what London can learn from these?

Sonia Solicari, Director of Museum of the Home, will discuss Almshouses and their historic relationship to local neighbourhoods. She will look at examples from the past that could apply today and question how far we are prepared to go (or go back) to support co-living and more sustainable lifestyles?”
