**Due to the rescheduling of this event some spaces have become available** Join local resident Rosamund Lily West to explore the municipal architecture of Woolwich, one of London’s most distinctive districts.
Once a major Thames-side manufacturing centre, complete with a dockyard and the Royal Arsenal munitions factory, the area has seen great change combined with robust conservation efforts and a legacy enshrined in local pub and street names and the prominent General Gordon Square. The Elizabeth Line has arrived with a design by Weston Williamson and Partners, which makes reference to the site’s military past. The location of the original Arsenal Football Club is right next door.
Rosamund is a curator, writer and historian completing her PhD on post-war London County Council housing estates and public sculpture. She is the author of Open City’s walking tour of Woolwich and contributed a chapter about the buildings of the Royal Arsenal Co-operative Society to The Alternative Guide to the London Boroughs.
