Brown’s impact on the British landscape is immense. It is estimated that there are 255 sites across the country that he worked or advised on, and with numerous international parks, gardens and landscapes inspired by his work, his influence is broader yet. Brown’s design principles continue to be demonstrated in contemporary landscape architecture and garden design.
The exhibition and associated event programme explores Brown’s extensive landscapes and management systems which were created using 18th Century tools. It reveals the mathematics, engineering, science and artistic skill that went into a commission, and demonstrates how the work is as relevant today as it was 300 years ago.
SIXTEEN leading landscape & garden photographers capture the breadth & scale of his artistry from 46 sites: Matthew Bruce, Joe Cornish, Gareth Davies, Derek St Romaine, Jacqui Hurst, Andrea Jones, James Kerr, Gavin Kingcome, Andrew Lawson, Archie Miles, Allan Pollock-Morris, Gary Rogers, Steffie Shields, James Smith, Stephen Studd, Simon Warner
