Join Project Architect, Oliver Heywood (Allies and Morrison) as he takes us behind the scenes and explains the challenges of authentically constructing an archetypal indoor Jacobean theatre one that Shakespeare would recognise, within a shell built for this purpose in the mid 1990s.

The theatre now provides the Globe with a space to stage intimate, candlelit performances in the winter months while the much larger outdoor theatre is not in use for performances – as was always the intention of the Globe’s late founder, Sam Wanamaker.
